Sony To Launch Lens Accessories For Smartphones
Sony has announced its plans to launch two stand-alone lens accessories, the QX10 and QX100, which connect to smartphones through Wi-Fi, allowing users to take higher-quality pictures.
New concept in digital imaging
The lenses, which mark the creation of a new product category, are compatible with iOS and Android handsets.
The device can either be attached on any phone itself or used separately so long as they are within the range of the phone, which Sony says makes it ideal for taking shots of distant landmarks or close-ups of people.
Sony claims the idea is “a brand new concept in digital imaging, turning your smartphone into a power-packed specialist camera.”
Compete in Android market
The Japanese company announced its new products at the IFA electronics fair in Berlin along with a new smartphone which features a 20.7 megapixel camera and a larger-than-normal image sensor.
Sony said that it would target its Z1 handset at a wider audience than what it called the NokiaLumia 1020’s “super-premium category.”
While the company hopes the new water-resistant Z1 would help it boost that figure, they are also taking advantage of its other assets to help the device stand out from the Android market.
