Each time you walk alone at night you put your safety at risk. While you cannot prevent crime, you can prepare yourself when an unexpected event happens. Here are simple yet effective self-defense strategies such as taekwondo in Michigan that you can use when walking alone at night.

1. Be aware of your surroundings.

You have to be conscious of what is happening around you when you walk alone. Be aware of your surroundings. As much as possible, avoid using your cell phone or earphones which could make you less aware.

2. Avoid passing by dark and low-traffic areas.
